Frequently Asked Questions

How do I enter the number of units and market price for each fund?

Once you have created a portfolio and added funds, there is one more step before you can view reports: you must tell GLOBE Portfolio how many units of the fund you own and when you bought them. Here are the steps:

Adding a Single Transaction

  1. On the GLOBE Portfolio main page, click Add Single Transaction.
  2. Choose the fund you want to add the transaction for from the pull-down list beside Select Fund. If the fund is not in the list, click Add Fund and add the fund to your portfolio using the Add Fund option.
  3. Enter the date of the transaction in the date fields in the format yy mm dd.
  4. Enter the number of units you purchased on the date entered in step 4 OR enter the total dollar value of the transaction. If you are entering a buy transaction and entering information as of your most recent statement from the fund company, you would be entering either the number of units you now own OR the total value of your investment in the fund. You only need to enter one of these values. If you enter both, globefund.com will only use the number of units.
  5. If you are paying any fees for this transaction, either to a broker, financial planner, or fund company, you must enter either a percentage or a dollar value.
  6. Click Buy. Don't forget this step! No actual units will be bought or sold.

A confirmation screen will appear. If the transaction looks correct, click Confirm Transaction. To make corrections, click Back on your Web browser's menu bar.
