The following is a press release from Sceptre Investment Counsel Ltd.

Effective October 26, 1998, Sceptre Asian Growth Fund is officially closed for new investors.

Sceptre Investment Counsel Limited also announced that it would be closing the Sceptre Asian Growth Fund effective January 31, 1999. The Sceptre Asian Growth Fund has experienced significant redemptions since the start of the Asian crisis and continues to decrease in size.

Sceptre's global investment strategy for all investment products has been adjusted over the past eighteen months as a result of the ongoing turmoil in Asia and the Emerging Markets. Exposure to these areas has been reduced across all portfolios. The near-term outlook remains one of caution and as such increased exposure to these markets is not anticipated.

The de-emphasizing of the commitment to these markets has been followed by the resignation of Tariq Ahmad portfolio manager for the Asian Growth Fund.

Given the above factors, Sceptre believes that it is the best interests of the unitholders to wind up the fund. Sceptre's commitment to all unitholders is to continue to manage and offer core type investment products.
