Investors Group Launches Two New Mutual Funds
WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--Investors Group Inc., Canada's leading financial services organization, today announced at its sales convention in Calgary that it is adding Investors Global Science & Technology Fund and Investors Canadian Balanced Fund to their Investors Master Series of proprietary funds. The new mutual funds, for which preliminary documents have been filed with Canadian securities commissions, are expected to be available in early fall. Scott Penman, Managing Partner, I.G. Investment Management Ltd. said today to convention attendees that the new funds will add more diversity to Investors Group's complete and exclusive family of mutual funds so that Representatives can focus on creating balanced portfolios for their clients. The new Investors Global Science & Technology Fund will be one of only a few funds in Canada with an exclusive focus on both the health sciences and technology sectors. I.G. Investment Management Ltd. currently manages $2.2 billion in high-tech, health sciences and other related assets. Penman explained: "Combining these specialty sectors into one fund means greater market opportunities and more diversification." The Investors Canadian Balanced Fund will provide both income and capital appreciation through investments in equities as well as income-generating securities such as government and corporate debt, and money market instruments. The asset mix of the fund, that is the portion of assets held in equities and income generating securities, will be actively managed over time. The Investors Global Science & Technology and Investors Canadian Balanced Funds will be managed under I.G. Investment Management's long-term philosophy of offering its clients superior returns and below-average risks. These mutual funds will be sold by way of prospectus only and will be available in early fall through Investors Group's 3,700 Representatives across the country.
