Elliott & Page to advise Elliott & Page U.S. Mid-Cap Fund

Pre-eminent U.S. Equity Team brings their expertise to
    Canadian mutual fund investors

TORONTO, Dec. 16 /CNW/ - Elliott & Page Limited, the manager of the
Elliott & Page U.S. Mid-Cap Fund, has assumed the responsibility for providing
investment advice for the Fund effective immediately. The Elliott & Page U.S.
Mid-Cap Fund is designed to provide long-term capital growth by investing
primarily in U.S. mid-cap stocks.
``Our U.S. Equity Team has a strong track record of outperformance,
notably in the mid-cap sector of the market'', said J. Roy Firth, President
and Chief Executive Officer. ``As one of the largest managers of U.S. equities
in the country with assets under management in excess of $3-billion (U.S.),
our U.S. team has the breadth and depth of experience to excel in this
underdeveloped segment of the market.''
The team will apply fundamental and quantitative analysis to rank
securities. Using their disciplined approach which incorporates both top-down
and bottom-up analyses, the Fund will focus on quality, growth and superior
valuations associated with equities within the mid-cap sector of the U.S.
market. The Fund will be managed by Mark Schmeer, CFA, Vice-President of U.S.
Equities, who will provide overall strategic direction for the portfolio,
along with Rhonda Chang, CFA, who specializes in the mid-cap sector of the
U.S. market.
As a result of this change, the services of Manufacturers and Traders
Trust Company (which previously acted as sub-advisor to the Fund) have been
terminated.
Founded in 1949, Elliott & Page is one of Canada's oldest registered
investment counsellors. Today Elliott & Page is a member of the Manulife
Financial group of companies and has offices in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver
and Calgary. Elliott & Page manages assets in excess of $14 billion for
institutional and mutual fund investors.
